Janumet FAQ
How Does Janumet Work?
Janumet contains metformin and sitagliptin, oral diabetes drugs that help control blood sugar levels in patients with type 2 diabetes. Metformin works by decreasing glucose production in the liver and decreasing absorption of glucose by the intestines. Sitagliptin works by regulating insulin levels the body produces after eating.
Who is the Manufacturer?
Janumet is manufactured by Merck & Co., and was approved by the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) in February 2012.
What’s the Difference Between Janumet and Janumet XR?
Janumet and Janumet XR are both prescription medications designed to be used along with diet and exercise to help control blood sugar levels in adults with type 2 diabetes. The difference is that Janumet is taken twice daily, while Janumet XR (extended-release) is taken only once daily.
How Much Does Janumet Cost?
The price of Janumet differs, depending on where you buy it and whether you have insurance copay. On average, a 50 mg /1000 mg tablet of Janumet retails for about $4 to $5. Buyers can get discounts if they have Janumet coupons accepted by online stores.
